Why I’m Writing This

I have always loved learning about the way things work. No childhood toy of mine was safe from being disassembled and (sometimes) successfully reassembled while I tried to figure out what was inside it. Being such an inquisitive child made sure that my parents never bought nice things, lest they be dismantled and ruined forever. The people at the local library probably knew me as “that little asian kid checking out that damn Fantastic Cutaways Book again, goddammit”, and figured that I stared at them for so long that I forgot how to blink.

This is a surefire way to ensure that your child grows up to be a weirdo.

Well, that little asian kid went on to college to pursue a bachelor of science in physics, and now he’s sitting here writing this blog.

In recent years, I’ve not only come to love learning about science, but to teach it to other people. Many late nights in college have ended in me giving my friends lectures about how the things that surround them work. For some reason, those people still talk to me.

As my college career went on, I found myself drawn closer and closer to the idea of teaching physics to people. My goal was to reveal the inner workings of an everyday object, and go into an in-depth discussion about whatever physics concepts made them work. But until I figure out a way to do such a thing, I’ll just lay it all out here. In each blog post, my aim  is to:

  1. Investigate the inner workings of an everyday object.
  2. Talk about the laws of physics that make it possible.
  3. Make you laugh at least once?

Hopefully, I can research and write posts on a regular basis. If I miss a post, just assume that I’ve died saving a bus full of schoolchildren using my degree in physics.
